BELGRADE After more than 200 incubators that fulfilled almost all current needs of the medical institutions in Serbia, it is time for a new humanitarian campaign. The Battle for Maternity Wards campaign started on Thursday and B92 Fund will raise funds for the acquisition of the equipment necessary for giving life support to the newborn babies which are deficient in maternity wards all over Serbia. Battle for Maternity Wards campaign begins At this point, there are more than 65 medical institutions in over than 50 cities in the territory of Serbia, and this is the main front where all activities within Battle for Maternity Wards will be directed. While delivering incubators across Serbia, B92 Fund representatives, accompanied by donors, had the opportunity to get to know the severe circumstances in which medical staff works and fights for the undisturbed growing up of our youngest and bravest fighters. It often happened that new incubators had reached maternity wards that lack elementary medical equipment without which our babies got through their first days only due to the ingenuity and great enthusiasm of the medical staff. Days went by, and the number of generous people that took part in the campaign had grown, while the picture of the real state of affairs in our maternity wards got more somber, despite secured needed incubators. It was clear that something had to be done. Therefore, B92 Fund, on the proposal of many donors, has decided to continue with the biggest humanitarian campaign that has been organized in Serbia lately whic will help by necessary equipment for the maternity wards all over Serbia. On the list of deficient equipment that is significant for the survival of the newborns, are the following medical devices: pulse oximeters, reanimation tables, respirators, neonatal ventilators, lamps for phototherapy, but also very basic and not so expensive equipment such as weight scales which are also deficient. The goal of the Battle for Maternity Wards is that such deficiency should be stopped, while the level of combat readiness in our medical institutions should be raised to the point when our youngest heroes will not miss any of the elementary equipment necessary for the start of their new life. Following up on the energy and the positive impulse that Battle for the Babies had incited in the medical institutions, new offensive have started already, prior to its official launch. Hearing about the intentions of B92 Fund, many donors have already given their donations, while some of the equipment has been already delivered. Prior to the official start of this new campaign, new medical equipment has been delivered to the Belgrade Institute for Neonatology, Children's Hospital, hospitals in Bor and Majdanpek, Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic maternity ward in Visegradska St. and General Hospital in Pozarevac, which got a delivery table from the International Women's Club. The new battle will be waged in all the cities that have maternity wards. On website www.bitkazabebe.rs all the interested parties can find their own town and maternity ward on the map of Serbia and participate actively in providing funds that will be directed to that particular institution. The B92 Fund calls on all brave people and companies to take part in this big battle where we will fight for every maternity ward, for every new life, for every baby! The heroes cannot make it on their own, so we are all invited to fight for them! B92
