BELGRADE The Constitutional Court’s decision has created confusion and Vojvodina is now facing a problem, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) MP Bojan Djuric has stated. According to him, a constitutional reform is necessary. Serbia needs constitutional reform, LDP says “Vojvodina is in a serious trouble now and since the focus of the problem is the Constitution, the LDP believes that this is one more reason to start the constitutional reform immediately, but in a serious manner,” he told Tanjug. The party believes that Vojvodina should have much clearer and wider jurisdiction than it currently has and that it would be good both for the province and for the modernization of the rest of the country. “Let others have their say about it too, nobody can hide behind half-solutions and the sugarcoated centralistic Constitution, attempts to avoid defining the exact rights of Vojvodina with awkward formulations and by playing with full stops and commas,” Djuric pointed out. According to him, the Constitutional Court only implemented the Constitution which represents an “expression of a wide political coalition which wrote it in a scandalous manner and pushed it through at a two-day referendum”. “The Constitution has maimed Vojvodina’s autonomy and what is happening now is a logical consequence of the rotten compromise from 2006 that the Democratic Party (DS), (Tomislav) Nikolic, (Democratic Party of Serbia leader Vojislav) Kostunica and the Socialists are responsible for,” the LDP official assessed. He added that what was later done by the DS-led coalition in an attempt to mitigate the constitutional mistakes “ended with such a decision of the Constitutional Court and confusion that we need to urgently overcome”. Djuric also believes that the Constitutional Court’s timing is “odd” and that there is a danger that it could revive “old and empty discussions”, attempts to scare the country with made-up separatism in Vojvodina and that it will be used as a compensation for the “failure of the Kosovo patriotism”. The Constitutional Court determined on Tuesday that around 20 regulations of the Law on Establishing Jurisdiction of Vojvodina were not in accordance with the Constitution. Tanjug
