Democratic Party (DS) and the United Regions of Serbia (URS) leaders Boris Tadic and Mladjan Dinkic met on Wednesday afternoon. According to unnamed sources, the main topic was the possibility of the forming of the ruling majority. DS leader Tadic meets with URS counterpart Dinkic The meeting between the two party leaders, apparently the first one after Dinkic was dismissed from his ministerial office and the Serbian cabinet reshuffle a little over a year ago, lasted two hours. According to daily Press, he told Tadic that the URS was interested in three governmental offices - the Economy and Finance Ministry, the Regional Development Ministry, the Local Self-Governments and National Investment Plan Ministry, and a deputy prime minister position. According to media reports, the meeting passed in a constructive atmosphere. This was not the first contact between the DS and the URS in the government formation process, but was nevertheless the first top level meeting. Dinkic told weekly NIN that he had already discussed the government formation issue with DS Deputy President Dragan Djilas and former chief of Tadic's cabinet Miodrag Rakic. Over the recent weeks, the media have been speculating about bad personal relations between Tadic and Dinkic, describing them as one of the biggest obstacles to possible cooperation between the DS and the URS in the future government. Whether the obstacle was removed by the meeting should be clearer after the next meeting between all of the potential coalition partners, namely, between the DS, the URS, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Socialist Party of Serbia - Party of United Pensioners of Serbia-United Serbia coalition. The meeting is planned for the end this week, according to unofficial announcements. Boris Tadic (Beta, file) Tanjug
