DSS: Conditions for EU talks at first session

The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) says the first session of parliament should hear the conditions under which Serbia will get the start date for EU talks. This is according to party spokesman Petar Petkovic, who addressed reporters on Monday in Belgrade. He pointed out that the situation in Kosovo and Metohija (KiM) is drastically deteriorating and added that NATO commits the "grossest" violation of the mandate given to it by the UNSC Resolution 1244. "NATO (KFOR) is creating an independent state of Kosovo by inflicting psychological and physical terror on Serbs in KiM," the DSS spokesman said, claiming that NATO uses force in order to achieve Pristina's goals for realization of a fake and illegal state of Kosovo. According to him, Serbs in Kosovo are asked to use the administrative crossings Brnjak and Jarinje, which should become the state border. "NATO is doing everything for the Serbs in KiM and the state of Serbia to accept the symbols of the fake state of Kosovo, one of them being the border," Petkovic pointed out. Pressures and blackmail are not only coming from NATO but also the EU which, as he put it, wants parallel institutions in Kosovo to be completely abolished. The blackmail includes the request that an office of Pristina's government be opened in Serbia, but also its reciprocal Belgrade office in Pristina. Asked whether the DSS took part in talks on forming the future government, Petkovic said that the party has not had such talks with anyone and that it has not taken the initiative for setting up the new government.
