Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) leader Ivica Dacic says the SPS-led coalition will continue talks on the forming the government with the Democratic Party (DS). He added, however, that if there were no results, it would sit down and talk with other parties. Socialists to continue talks with Democrats "We are talking with the DS and working to form a parliamentary majority, but if there are no positive results, we will talk to others, because a new election would not be in Serbia's best interest," Dacic told a news conference following a meeting with United Regions of Serbia (URS) officials on Sunday. "We will not do this as long as we are in talks with the Democrats, because we want to form a government with them," added the SPS leader. “At today's meeting with the URS, agreement was reached regarding certain economic and social issues, the importance of fighting corruption and crime, and protecting national and state interests,” he noted. URS leader Mladjan Dinkic said that Serbia needed a government based on different principles than the last one and that it needed a new organization. He added that the SPS-led coalition was a serious partner for the forming of the future government. The meeting between the SPS-led coalition and the URS started around 13:00 CET on Sunday. The URS delegation included Dinkic, and officials Suzana Grubjesic, Veroljub Stevanovic and Bosko Nicic. The other side was represented by Dacic, United Serbia (JS) leader Dragan Markovic and Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS) leader Jovan Krkobabic and deputy leader Milan Krkobabic. The PUPS leader told Tanjug on Saturday that he believed the SPS-PUPS-JS coalition would form a parliamentary majority with the DS by Monday and would then come out with concrete solutions. "I expect the candidate for prime minister to find and determine a parliamentary majority by Monday, this is my hope and my expectation," explained Krkobabic. Krkobabic told Radio B92 earlier that he expected the situation regarding the future government to become clear very soon. Today’s talks between the SPS and the URS will follow after the DS Presidency concluded that the talks on the future government with the SPS-led coalition should continue and that the URS should be involved in them as well. The Democrats have been trying to avoid having Dinkic in the next government but Dacic has insisted that they participate in it. Ivica Dacic (Tanjug, file) B92 Beta Tanjug

The Democrats have been trying to avoid having Dinkić in the next government but Dačić has insisted that they participate in it.
