The Democrats have intensified talks on the forming of the new government, daily Vecernje novosti has reported. According to the daily, the new majority will most likely consist of the Democratic Party (DS), the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS)-Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS)-United Serbia (JS) coalition, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), the United Regions of Serbia (URS) and ethnic minority parties. A key to the new majority has been the DS’ decision to continue the talks with URS leader Mladjan Dinkic. SPS leader Ivica Dacic backed DS leader Boris Tadic’s decision. He stressed earlier that the Socialists would not join the government if only the LDP was in it and insisted that the URS joined it too. The Democrats have announced that they will intensify the talks with the SPS, LDP and the URS and the informal talks would continue on Sunday. The daily has learnt that Dacic and Dinkic will meet on Sunday. Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) acting leader Aleksandar Vucic is still waiting for the SPS’ response to the invitation to start the talks on the forming of the government.
