SNS official Zorana Mihajlovic says it is "obvious that the Democrats (DS) and the Socialists (SPS) do not have the necessary majority to form a government". They should make this clear so that the Progressives (SNS) could officially launch government talks, she told Tanjug news agency in Belgrade on Thursday. "DS and SPS should say they do not have majority for govt." “The party believes that a government should have been constituted a long time ago, that Serbia needs to get its government as soon as possible because of the very grave economic and social situation." "Those who announced a majority, and here I refer mainly to the DS and the SPS, obviously do not have the majority. I believe that they should make this clear so that the winner in the elections, that is the SNS, could officially launch government constitution,” Mihajlovic was quoted as saying. She noted that the SNS is conducting informal talks with other parties but she did not specify which parties they is negotiating with. According to Mihajlovic, the moment the Democrats publicly state they are not capable of forming the majority, the Progressives will "officially launch government constitution". It is certain that Serbia will not wait another month for the SNS to constitute the government, because it would be formed as soon as possible, Mihajlovic said. When asked about external pressures as regards government formation, Mihajlovic stated that absolutely no pressures were exerted on the SNS. Replying to the question about the possibility of a great coalition, she said that it is not realistic for the SNS to close a government with the DS. Zorana Mihajlovic (file) Tanjug
