Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) Secretary Veljko Odalovic said late Friday that RIK would on Saturday discuss allegations about election irregularities. The allegations were made by the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). RIK to form team to inspect ballots Odalovic added that a team would be formed to conduct a detailed inspection of the entire election material. “We will opt for forming a team consisting of members of the Republic Electoral Commission and the secretariat staff of the national parliament, which will perform a thorough inspection of the entire election material and determine whether and where there may be a bag with missing ballots. We will start from there in our efforts to determine what really happened,” he told Radio Television of Serbia (RTS). He said that SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic requested in his complaint for RIK to annul the results of elections on all levels that were held on May 6. Odalovic stressed that the complaint was missing details about which polling station the alleged theft occurred at, and whether the ballots were from presidential or parliamentary elections. “Regardless of that, the complaint will be considered, and RIK will release a statement regarding the issue on Saturday,” he added. “It is important to establish all the facts and review the material,” Odalovic stressed. Speaking about the procedure, he explained that the election material was distributed to municipal commissions under police escort. He pointed out that parties had taken part in all phases of ballot printing and of control of the election process, adding that each party had at least two representatives among a polling station staff. Odalovic explained that the printing of ballots was a public activity, adding that when the printing of the envisaged number of ballots was completed, the sheet that ballots were printed on was destroyed.
