Secretary of the Electoral Commission (RIK) Veljko Odalovic says he was surprised by the claims of certain political parties that the elections were rigged. The electoral process was fully transparent and public, he said on Thursday. RIK: Electoral process was fully transparent Odalovic told reporters that certain problems occurred at some polling stations and that RIK received complaints but dismissed them upon revision. Odalovic recalled that RIK is conducting all operations transparently and that all political parties have members and deputy members in RIK, so that they can see what others are doing. According to the RIK secretary, the commission cannot discuss the events in polling stations. Our hands are tied with regard to this matter to a certain extent, Odalovic said. To support the claim that election materials are available to everyone, Odalovic said that Dveri have been examining election materials for two days now, and that the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) has sent a request for revision. Everyone has the right to see the materials, Odalovic said. Earlier on Thursday, SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic accused the Democratic Party (DS) of rigging the elections in order to ensure a place in the new government both for itself and the leadership of the Socialist Party of Serbia and thus interrupt the fight against corruption.
