Skopje-based weekly Fokus writes that Haki Haziri, who requested to be a protected witness in the quintuple murder near Skopje, drove a getaway car. Quoting well-informed sources, Fokus writes about details of Haziri’s statement, in which he pointed out that he drove the perpetrators but that he did not know what they were planning to do. According to the weekly, 28-year-old Haziri described in detail the route the car had taken and stressed that he had only learnt that they were planning to commit murder after they had put on ski masks and taken out their weapons. Haziri also said that after the murder the perpetrator left to a village near the town of Kumanovo where they left the car and then escaped to Kosovo with his uncle’s help. He stressed that a guilty conscience had caused him to lose 28 kilograms after the murder. Haziri, who is charged with terrorism, was remanded in custody for 30 days.
