DSS Vice Presidnet Slobodan Samardzic warned that possible annulment of local elections held in northern Kosovo would be a violation of the law. In that way Serbian institutions would gradually shut down, he stated on Wednesday in Belgrade. DSS warns against annulment of elections in Kosovo The law allows and envisages for local elections to be organized by local authorities, said Samardzic, adding that the elections in KiM were staged by local municipal councils. "They organized the polling in places where people dared to implement the law and where local branches of ruling parties posed no threat. This was done in Zvecan and Zubin Potok, and State Secretary in the Ministry for Kosovo and Metohija Oliver Ivanovic said the elections will be annulled," Samardzic pointed out, adding that the Constitutional Court may have to deal with the matter. He also said that in the past months the government's goal was to speak as little as possible about the elections in Kosovo, which is why the results are presented as "marginal" by the media. The government agreed to blackmails by international actors from Brussels and Pristina and that is why the media coverage of the elections is so limited. By holding the elections, Kosovo Serbs continued to fight for survival in the Republic of Serbia, he said. Samardzic underscored that the DSS won 63 percent of the vote in Zubin Potok, where it can set up a local government on its own, and 37 percent in Zvecan. According to him, the turnout was around 30 percent, which he said is very low. Slobodan Samardzic (FoNet, file) Tanjug
