Tadić received 13,051 more votes in first round

The Election Commission (RIK) has announced that Boris Tadić (DS) won 25.33% of votes while Tomislav Nikolić (SNS) received 24.99% in the presidential election.

The Election Commission (RIK) has announced that Boris Tadic (DS) won 25.33% of votes while Tomislav Nikolic (SNS) received 24.99% in the presidential election. These numbers, published on Monday afternoon, are based on results from 97.69 percent of polling stations that the commission said it "processed" thus far. Tadic received 13,051 more votes in first round According to this, Tadic won 969,639 votes, while Nikolic received 956,588 votes. The two candidates are now headed for the runoff on May 20. The third position in the first round of the presidential race was taken by Ivica Dacic (SPS) who won 14.24 percent of the vote. A total of 4.47 percent of the presidential election ballots were invalid, RIK said in a release. The best results in the parliamentary elections were achieved by the SNS-led coalition which earned the support of 29.20 percent of voters, or 73 seats in the Serbian parliament. The DS-led coalition received 26.80 percent of votes, or a total of 67 seats. The third was the SPS-led coalition, with 17,60 percent of votes, making up for 44 parliamentary seats. Based on the processed 97.51 percent of polling places, 4.36 percent of ballots were invalid in the parliamentary vote. When it comes to elections held in Kosovo and Metohija, RIK processed 85 out of a total of 90 polling stations where the presidential elections were held, and 84 out of 90 concerning the parliamentary elections. In the presidential elections there, Tomislav Nikolic won 21.09 percent of votes, Vojislav Kostunica of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) amassed 20.75 percent, Ivica Dacic of the SPS-PUPS-JS coalition earned 20.36 percent, while Boris Tadic ended up with 8.97 percent. When it comes to parliamentary elections in Kosovo and Metohija, the Ivica Dacic-SPS-PUPS-JS list won 20.43 percent of votes, DSS - Vojislav Kostunica garnered 19.90 percent, the SNS list captured 19.79 percent, while the DS list received 17.41 percent of votes. According to this, Tadić won 969,639 votes, while Nikolić received 956,588 votes.

The two candidates are now headed for the runoff on May 20.

The third position in the first round of the presidential race was taken by Ivica Dačić (SPS) who won 14.24 percent of the vote.

A total of 4.47 percent of the presidential election ballots were invalid, RIK said in a release.

The best results in the parliamentary elections were achieved by the SNS-led coalition which earned the support of 29.20 percent of voters, or 73 seats in the Serbian parliament.

The DS-led coalition received 26.80 percent of votes, or a total of 67 seats. The third was the SPS-led coalition, with 17,60 percent of votes, making up for 44 parliamentary seats.
