The pre-election silence began in Serbia at midnight and will last until the closing of the polls on Sunday, May 6, at 20:00 CET. Under the Law on Election of MPs, the election silence starts 48 hours prior to the elections. Election silence in Serbia ahead of Sunday polls During that time there is a ban on election campaigning through mass media, public meetings and publication of assessment of election results. The instructions for conducting elections states that during the 48 hours, it is prohibited to display symbols of electoral lists, political parties, coalitions and citizens' groups and other materials at the polling place and in the circle of 50 meters around it. The presidential, parliamentary, local and provincial elections in Serbia will be held on Sunday, May 6, and polling stations will be open from 7:00 until 20:00. A total of 18 lists compete for seats in the Serbian parliament, while 12 candidates run for the future head of state. In total, 7,026,579 voters are eligible to cast their votes at exactly 8,587 polling stations in Serbia and abroad.
