Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) leader and presidential candidate Tomislav Nikolic has said he would talk to the Kosovo president if he was elected president. He repeated that he advocated continuation of Serbia’s EU integration. SNS leader says he would talk to Kosovo officials Nikolic told Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) on Saturday evening that he had said it before and that he was saying again that he was convinced that talks should be held with representatives of the Kosovo interim institutions and that the Kosovo status should be discussed. He stressed that it was obvious that Belgrade could have no authority in Pristina just like Pristina had no authority in Kosovska Mitrovica, adding that all those issues should be discussed. The SNS leader pointed out that Serbia’s Constitution, moral and ethics were clear. According to him, if partition of Kosovo ever became a possibility the Serbian citizens should decide on it at a referendum. Nikolic said that if he was elected president and got the government’s mandate he would be happy to lead the negotiations. He added, however, that if the government believed that the negotiations should be headed by the prime minister or a minister, he would respect the decision but that he would monitor the talks. “I would like to cooperate with the government and the opposition on the issue because it is not the matter of tax rates or something like that,” the SNS leader said and added that there were many issues regarding Kosovo and that they needed to be solved. Nikolic said that he had not heard of any new EU condition in order to start the EU accession talks that was impossible to fulfill. “The president has no choice than to act in accordance with the Serbian Constitution and the Constitution says that Serbia has two provinces,” he stressed. “Serbia is a country of crime, bribe and corruption and I solemnly vow that I will eradicate the crime. I will not stop because Serbia is a state of unbearable injustice,” he concluded. Tomislav Nikolic (Tanjug, file) RTS Tanjug
