He added that the properties seized from criminals and given to social and humanitarian organizations was worth dozens of millions of euros. “Seized property to be used for humanitarian purposes” Homen explained that the purpose of the Law on seizure of property acquired through crime was to return it to those who were robbed. “Serbia has so far confiscated properties worth more than EUR 350mn thanks to the implementation of the Law on seizure of property acquired through crime, although it is expected that the amount will be higher and reach EUR 500mn bearing in mind that numerous financial investigations are underway,” he was quoted as saying. The state secretary added the law proved to be one of the best and most efficient legal solutions when it came to combat against crime. According to him, the basic idea is for the money to be equally distributed to citizens in need.
