A bullet found inside the offices of the ruling Democratic Party (DS) branch in Novi Sad "was fired with the intent to kill someone", says Jelena Trivan. For this reason, one of the DS vice presidents told a news conference on Monday, "a line has been crossed". Democrats: Bullet was fired "to kill someone" "Passions are usually running high during campaigns and incidents often happen, but it seems to us that this time a line has been crossed, because shots were fired from a firearm with the intent to also kill someone," Trivan was quoted as saying. The bullet was found today, and is believed to have found its way inside the party premises while they were empty during the weekend. Police have unofficially said that they believe it was a stray bullet, likely fired during a fight that broke out in front of a nearby sports venue, also during the weekend. But Trivan stated on Monday that "it seemed to her, considering the overall context of the election campaign" that the May 6 elections will have as their goal the victory "of either tolerance, political culture and dialogue, or the policy of hatred, violence and relativization of crimes". She further elaborated on the "context" by saying it on the one hand saw violent persons who set embassies on fire arrested, while on the other there was affirmation of the policy of violence and glorification of criminals. Trival went on to say that DS leader Boris Tadic, when he took over as president in 2004, said his goal was to create a cultured and tolerant political atmosphere where nobody would again die like PM Zoran Djindjic, who was assassinated in 2003. But she continued to say that in 2008 - "Tadic received threats that he would be killed if he signed the SAA (with the EU), while at the same time (Djindjic assassination conspirator) Milorad Ulemek Legija was sent the message that his actions and indictment would be revised".
