Extradition procedure launched for suspected gangster

Spain has initiated the procedure to extradite Luka Bojović and two other members of the Zemun Clan organized crime gang, said reports from Madrid on Tuesday.

Spain has initiated the procedure to extradite Luka Bojovic and two other members of the Zemun Clan organized crime gang, said reports from Madrid on Tuesday. This came following an extradition request from Serbia, Serbia's Justice Minister Snezana Malovic said. Extradition procedure launched for suspected gangster She met with her Spanish counterpart Alberto Ruiz-Gallardon and said afterwards she expected Bojovic, Vladimir Milisavljevic and Sinisa Petric to be extradited within a year, which is the maximum length of the procedure. Serbia's delegation also includes State Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac and State Secretary for Justice Slobodan Homen. Bojovic, Milisavljevic and Petric are wanted in Serbia for dozens of murders, among which the assassination of Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic in March 2003, and the Spanish judicial bodies charge them with a number of offenses. They were arrested in Valencia on February 9. On March 13, Serbia submitted an extradition request to Spain and forwarded the documentation on crimes they are charged with in Serbia, comprising some 2,000 pages. In Spain, Bojovic, Milisavljevic and Petric are charged with possessing an arsenal of weapons, falsifying documents, belonging to an organized criminal group and resisting arrest, and they have been remanded in custody. They are also suspected of killing Milan Jurisic, a former member of the gang, whose murder was recently confirmed by the Spanish police. Malovic and Ruiz-Gallardon discussed also potential confiscation of property belonging to those who have been indicted but own property in Spain, like former head of the C Market retail chain Slobodan Radulovic and members of the crime organization run by suspected drug lord Darko Saric.
