Kosovo minister: Political dialogue after elections

Minister for Kosovo and Metohija Goran Bogdanovic stated on Wednesday that the political dialogue on Kosovo should start after the May 6 elections. In our opinion and the opinion of many countries, the status of Kosovo and Metohija has not been defined, Bogdanovic said, adding that in keeping with the UN Security Council Resolution 1244, the political dialogue should start soon and problems in the province should finally be resolved. Kosovo minister: Political dialogue after elections In an interview for the Zvecan-based Television Most, the minister said that this is the reason why everyone should be pragmatic as regards the staging of local elections in Kosovo-Metohija. The elections would probably not be held at all, he said. Bogdanovic underscored that it is most likely that the local elections would not be held in Kosovo-Metohija at all, although there would be no major problems as regards the staging of parliamentary and presidential elections. Bogdanovic stated that it is unrewarding to discuss whether Belgrade would accept the results of local elections in northern Kosovo if Serbs stage them themselves, but he believes that everyone in Kosovo should respect this in case competent bodies adopt the decision not to hold the elections. If we adopt the decision that elections in Kosovo should not be held, then it implies that local elections should not be staged in northern Kosovo either, Bogdanovic said and added that Serbs living to the north and the south of the Ibar River should not be separated, because this would send a negative message to citizens, Bogdanovic believes. The minister underscored that nobody has the intention to shut down Serbia's institutions in Kosovo, and expressed the belief that the future government would not have any plans as regards the shutdown of the institutions either.
