Ambassador announces launch of Russo-Serbian center
An emergency situations center will start operating in Niš, southern Serbia, in several weeks' time, Russian Ambassador Aleksandr Konuzin said on Monday.

An emergency situations center will start operating in Nis, southern Serbia, in several weeks' time, Russian Ambassador Aleksandr Konuzin said on Monday. Administrative offices of the center, to be jointly operated by Russia and Serbia, were opened last year. Earlier in the day, the ambassador unveiled a commemorative plaque dedicated to Vsevolod Tatarinov, an architect of Russian origin. The plaque that was placed on the National Theater building, designed by Tatarinov, who lived in Nis in the first half of the 20th century. Konuzin thanked the southern town for preserving the memory of its Russian residents, adding that Serbia and Russia were not looking solely to the past, but building plans for the future as well. The two countries have projects "unlike any other in the world", Konuzin stated, mentioning the emergency situations center as one example.
