Workers of the Zelvoz company on Monday blocked the streets and held up the traffic in the the town of Smederevo, central Serbia. The downtown was under blockade for one hour during the protest staged by several hundred workers. Disgruntled workers block town center The workers, who have been protesting for 20 days, reacted in this way to the ongoing negotiations that are meant to "harmonize the social program" they were offered by the company. After they unblocked the streets, the protesters returned to the town hall, where their protest has been ongoing for 20 days. 444 workers of the company that specializes in rail vehicle repairs were promised severance pay that they never received. Zelvoz worker Dejan Zivkovic told Tanjug news agency that he and his colleagues would continue to block one road each day "without previous announcement", until their demands have been met.
