Public Administration and Local Self-Government Minister Milan Markovic said Serbia will get a new single electoral register before the upcoming elections. "After twenty years of a multi-party system, numerous doubts as to the regularity of electoral registers and public debates after every election, Serbia will finally have a single electoral register in the form of an electronic database," Markovic said for the Tuesday edition of the daily Vecernje Novosti, adding the system has multiple advantages. New, single register for upcoming elections "First, it eliminates the doubts which existed in earlier elections, and people will be able to check online or via text messages whether they are registered to vote and where. They will be able to choose where they will vote, and not have to travel to their home town on election day. Another advantage is that the register will be automatically updated using the electronic civil registries we have been developing since 2009," said Markovic. He said the election campaign will not halt the most important works in the state and the country needs to continue reforms for the benefit of the people. Parliamentary and local elections will be called in Serbia in March, and are expected to be held in either April or May. Tanjug
