Spanish Ambassador to Serbia Arturo Laclaustra Beltran expressed his conviction that Serbia will become candidate for membership in the EU on March 1. The country deserves this because of the efforts it has made and continues to make on its European path, said the diplomat. Spanish envoy "convinced" candidate bid will succeed "I am completely convinced Serbia will get candidate status on March 1, which it undoubtedly deserves because of the efforts it has made and continues to make in its EU accession process," Beltran told Belgrade-based daily Politika. Asked what Serbia needs to do to make this happen, the ambassador said the European Council clearly set out three conditions "and nothing beyond that".
