The DS party-led parliament group chief Nada Kolundzija says the ruling coalition is experiencing difficulties in securing a majority in parliament. Nevertheless, this Democratic Party (DS) official and MP told Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti, "the government did not collapse". Ruling coalition has no majority - govt. didn't fall Sebria will hold regular parliamentary elections in the spring. Kolundzija says that the problems for the ruling coalition arouse "due to current bickering within the Serbian Renewal Movement (SPO)", and voiced hope that "political logic will prevail, and that MPs of that party will eventually appear in parliament". She expressed expectation that a solution will be found by the end of parliament's special session - the start of March. Asked if that means that the government does not enjoy support of 126 MPs and that it had in fact collapsed, she was adamant that this was not the case: “The government has not fallen. The laws that we have to pass are not systemic, and the state can operate without them. The elections will be called in one month's time. Parliament does not usually work in this period, but we wanted to pass certain laws before the elections. We hope that we will succeed in that, and that we will find a solution by the beginning of March." Speaking about the forthcoming elections and possible coalitions, Kolundzija said that the Democratic Party established the best cooperation with the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), its strategic partner, and some minor parties. “It is clear that a future ruling coalition cannot be formed with the (opposition) Serb Progressive Party (SNS), as in my opinion, the so-called 'big coalition' would be highly detrimental to Serbia. Furthermore, we cannot create a coalition with those who oppose Serbia's EU integration like the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS),” she said. Asked about the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) "requests to give up the current policy towards Kosovo", Kolundzija said that "cooperation with anyone demanding such a thing would be unacceptable".
