“Serbia’s priority should be neutrality”
The first task of the new government should be proclamation of political neutrality, Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Koštunica says.

The first task of the new government should be proclamation of political neutrality, Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Kostunica says. “Political neutrality is a way for Serbia to stand up to blackmails from Brussels and this is an idea of independence and freedom compared to new dogmas and new centers of power,” he said on Saturday. “Serbia’s priority should be neutrality” The DSS leader said that the political neutrality should start from the EU by renouncing a “dogma that Europe has no alternative” and that the policy should then be implemented in relations with other states and alliances. “The policy of neutrality does not mean confrontation with the EU but organizing relations with the EU, primarily economic ones. Serbia’s economy is suffering a lot of damage due to implementation of the Association and Stabilization Agreement, so the political neutrality is a road to Serbia’s economic recovery,” he explained. Kostunica named seven reasons why Serbia should not join the EU, pointing out that the first one was “snatching of Kosovo”. “If a state and people are ready to renounce a part of their territory, there is only a question how the issue of other parts of the territory, such as Vojvodina, would be opened and the third reason is conditioning of Serbia to support the Republic of Srpska’s integration into Bosnia-Herzegovina,” he added. According to him, the fourth reason is the fact that Serbia is requested to renounce its military neutrality for the sake of the NATO membership, while the fifth reason is a request that Serbia take responsibility for all the wars in former Yugoslavia. The DSS leader said that the sixth reason is a request that Serbia must gradually completely liberalize foreign exchange with the EU without any compensation. “Finally, the seventh reason is a condition that Serbia must respond to all requests of various European institutions, bodies, officials, rapporteurs and supervisors and unconditionally accept quasi cultural standards, norms of behavior, moral norms and the system of values. This will include a revision of our history, both political and cultural,” he explained. “All the requests for Serbia are an enormous material, political and moral hit to the country.
