Bosnia: Council of Ministers 16 months after elections

Bosnia-Herzegovina got on Friday its sixth Council of Ministers after the House of Representatives confirmed appointments of ministers and their deputies.

Bosnia-Herzegovina got on Friday its sixth Council of Ministers after the House of Representatives confirmed appointments of ministers and their deputies. Vjekoslav Bevanda will be at the head of the council. He was appointed as the chairman earlier. Bosnia: Council of Ministers 16 months after elections Zlatko Lagumdzija of the SDP party is Bosnia's new foreign minister while ikola Spiric (SNSD) will head the Ministry of Finance and Treasury. Both he and Lagumdzija will at the same time act as deputies to the president of the council. Muhamed Ibrahimovic (SDA) has been appointed minister of defense, while his deputies are Marina Pendes (HDZ BiH) and Mirko Okolic (SDS). The new council was formed 16 months after the general elections of October 2010. This completes the formation of the government following the elections and also fulfills a part of the agreement between the leaders of 6 political parties in late 2011. In the debate before the vote, parliament members from the Party for Bosnia-Herzegovina and the Alliance for a Better Future of Bosnia-Herzegovina said they did not agree with the appointment and choice of the new council, putting the lack of a program document and women on the council as some of their reasons for disapproval. Head of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency Zeljko Komsic, chief of the EU Delegation and EU representative Peter Sorensen, representatives of the international community and numerous guests attended the meeting.
