Serb Progressive Party (SNS) deputy leader Aleksandar Vucic says that the Serbian Constitution is the red line SNS would never cross when it comes to Kosovo. He added that if he was in power he would tell the people frankly what could be done with the province. SNS “will be frank about Kosovo” "If it should prove as impossible to carry out everything that is written in the Serbian Constitution, we would first sit with all political parties and determine what it is that we can get, which is something we do not know right now because we are unfamiliar with the developments in the negotiation progress. If we come to power, we will know that and we will tell the citizens frankly where things stand," Vucic told a press conference on Friday. Asked to comment on Serbian President Boris Tadic's plan for Kosovo, he said that he saw nothing new or interesting in it since it was "copied from the Martti Ahtisaari plan." "What is it that is Tadic's? All is already written in Ahtisaari's plan. If he says 'special status for northern Kosovo', does that mean he recognizes Kosovo, and is that special status in scope of Kosovo or Serbia?" the SNS deputy leader wondered. He added that Tadic had informed neither the parliament nor the political parties about his four-point plan. Commenting on the possibility that the four northern Kosovo municipalities give up on the announced referendum, Vucic said that SNS would always support the Serbs in Kosovo and their decisions, noting, however, that his party had nothing to do with the municipalities' decision in the first place. He reiterated that the elections in Serbia should be called as soon as possible, recalling that the unemployment rate of 23.7 percent had reached its historical high.
