Serbian Ministry for Kosovo State Oliver Ivanovic has urged northern Kosovo mayors to drop the planned referendum because it is not needed right now. In a statement given to TV Most on Tuesday, he called on the mayors to be prudent, because 95 percent of the people did not want anything to do with the Pristina institutions. Serbs urged to give up on referendum "There will be more challenges and we do not have anyone else to rely on besides the Serbian government," Ivanovic stressed, adding it was hard to improve the communication with Pristina, and likewise with representatives of the international community whose behavior in critical situations had been partial. The state secretary pointed out that people in Kosovo, especially those in the north, did not have the luxury of having a bad relationship with the Serbian government, regardless of who was in it. "An open confrontation with the Serbian government means that at some point the people in the north will see us as a problem," Ivanovic pointed out. Oliver Ivanovic (Beta, file) Tanjug
