Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) leader Ivica Dacic believes his party could apologize for the problems in the 90s because it was partially responsible for them. “When it comes to the party I am a leader of, I believe that we should take a look at everything that happened before 2000 and learn lessons so it would never happen again," the SPS leader pointed out. SPS could apologize to citizens, leader says "In that sense we could apologize to citizens for the problems that occurred at the time, that maybe partially were our fault, and partially the overall situation that we were in then,” he added. He told weekly Press that the problems from the 90s, 11 years after October 5, 2000, “are almost the same, even bigger” and that only those who were aware of their mistakes could make them right. When asked why he avoided visiting Slobodan Milosevic's grave, Dacic said that he “does not want to build his political identity on Slobodan Milosevic or his grave” and that he wanted to have his own political identity and to allow his party to have a fresh start. “I don’t avoid going to his grave but I was not allowed to attend the funeral. I don’t know why it is important now whether I visit the grave,” he concluded. Ivica Dacic (Tanjug) Press
