Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) believes that the government's policy in 2011 regarding key state and national issues was barren. The SNS also believes that the economic policy was destructive and irresponsible, it was said at a press conference on Friday. SNS says government’s policy is “barren” SNS officials Zorana Mihajlovic and Marko Djuric voiced criticism over the government's work in 2011 as well as the previous three years, stressing that there was almost no social segment which was not infected with the consequences of such policy, and that the only areas which recorded growth were privilege of the political elite, corruption, the number of impoverished people and unemployment. “The primary goal of the SNS in the year ahead will be a change of the political class which has been guiding Serbia for entire two decades,” Djuric said, adding that the SNS believed that the accomplishment of this goal was a necessary precondition for improvement in all areas of life in Serbia. He noted that the government had promised that Serbia would get the EU candidate status by the end of the year, but that it was obvious now that this job would be completed next year and done by the SNS. Mihajlovic stressed that the SNS would be the party to form a new government next year, and that its key goal was genuine democracy. According to her, the SNS will start a new economic policy which Serbia needs i.e. a policy of fair tax system, and a new monetary policy whose final goal would be opening of new jobs. She noted that 2012 should be the year of a new beginning for Serbia offering a possibility to citizens to declare what kind of future they want, while the country should be taken over by a party which really cares about changes in Serbia i.e. the SNS.
