A hacking group has announced that they stole a large number of emails and credit card data from STRATFOR's database. The intrusion aimed against the Texas-based U.S. security think-thank, that happened over the weekend, was "only the beginning of the Christmas assault on a long list of targets", said the movement in online postings. Although they said they belonged to the Anonymous group, others statements on the internet, coming from "the real Anonymous", have denied that the attack was perpetrated by the movement. He also claimed that more than 90,000 credit cards were compromised in this way, and that they belonged to employees of judicial and intelligence bodies, as well as journalists.
