Serb Radical Party (SRS) deputy leader Dragan Todorovic expects the elections to be held in February, before the decision on the EU candidate status is made. He said that Democratic Party (DS) and its leader Boris Tadic had placed everything they had into the candidate status and that they would have nothing to go to the elections with if Serbia failed to get the EU candidate status in March. Elections "before EU candidate status decision” The SRS deputy leader said that “if they accepted (German Chancellor) Angela Merkel’s silent blackmail” they would not do well in the elections. “The only possibility is a new fraud. The new fraud can only be realized until March. This is why I expect the parliamentary elections in Serbia in February and it is indisputable that March will bring votes to some and take them away from some,” he explained. Todorovic added that post-election coalitions should only be discussed after the elections. “As far as SRS is concerned, we certainly cannot be with (Liberal Democratic Party) LDP and we cannot be with traitors from (Serbian Progressive Party) SNS and I am very sure about this,” he stressed and added that the League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina (LSV) was also among undesirable partners. He said that a coalition with the DS was only possible on a local level but that there was no chance to form such a coalition on the republic level. According to the SRS deputy leader, his party will be a “key factor” after the elections and its strength and number of votes would disable forming of any coalition. He believes that the DS and SNS will not be able to form a coalition without the third party and that this will most certainly be SRS. Dragan Todorovic (FoNet, file)
