German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Senior Adviser Christoph Heusgen paid a short visit to Belgrade on Thursday and spoke with Serbian President Boris Tadic. Heusgen also talked to Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic, daily Danas writes. Daily says Tadic met with Merkel’s adviser Quoting German and Serbian sources, the daily writes that Heusgen and the Serbian president discussed Serbia’s EU candidacy, situation in northern Kosovo and the two countries’ economic cooperation. Heusgen is a former head of ex-EU High Representative Javier Solana’s Policy Unit and an ex-deputy chief of staff to former German Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel and a member of the ruling Christian Democratic Union. Quoting German and Serbian sources, the daily writes that Heusgen and the Serbian president discussed Serbia’s EU candidacy, situation in northern Kosovo and the two countries’ economic cooperation.

Heusgen is a former head of ex-EU High Representative Javier Solana’s Policy Unit and an ex-deputy chief of staff to former German Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel and a member of the ruling Christian Democratic Union.
