Dr. Zoran Djindjic Foundation chairwoman Ruzica Djindjic and President Boris Tadic presented annual awards to the best students and young scientists in Vojvodina. The awards were also presented on Tuesday evening in Novi Sad by President of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina Bojan Pajtic. Zoran Djindjic Awards presented This year's Dr. Zoran Djindjic Award for best young scientist and researcher went to Vesna Tumbas, holder of PhD in Technological Sciences, for extraordinary results in the area of scientific and research work on the territory of AP Vojvodina. The winner of the award for best master's thesis in philosophical and social sciences is Sonja Trifuljesko, masters graduate in anthropology at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, and the award for best graduate student of the Novi Sad University went to Faculty of Technical Sciences graduate Nemanja Rakicevic. Addressing the laureates at the Vojvodina government building, President Tadic stated that the youth, particularly young scientists, should never give up, not even when they are in a seemingly hopeless situation, because that is precisely what could be a point of a new beginning. "To those who think that Serbia has reached that point, I say that we never give up," Tadic said, recalling the perseverance and efforts of former Serbian PM Zoran Djindjic, assassinated in 2003. "Zoran took on the biggest risk to himself in order to develop a vision for our entire space and continent, Tadic underlined. He told the young scientists and other professionals that they need to contribute to adjusting Serbia to its surrounding and the whole world, by doing their best to understand what other people think of us. We often expect others to do the same as we do, and the problem is that we do not put ourselves in the position of others, and are not aware of the reality and the perspective from which they see us, or what they expect from us. That does not mean we should renounce our principles, but we have to understand the others because we share the same living space with them, Tadic said. Boris Tadic and Ruzica Djindjic (Tanjug)
