EU foreign ministers will meet in February to review Serbia's application to become a candidate for membership, which the EU Council should confirm in March. This is according to President of the EU Council Herman Van Rompuy, who spoke in Brussels on Friday. Serbia's EU candidate bid to be reviewed in February Serbia has made significant progress and brave moves in bringing the most wanted war criminals to justice, Rompuy told a press conference at the EU headquarters. Rompuy also said the EU wanted to "encourage Serbia after the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina had yielded its first results". According to him, the EU "encourages Serbia to continue the dialogue and improve the relations with Pristina", which, as he underlined, was "in Serbia's best interest". "We will continue to follow the situation," Van Rompuy said, while the Council of Ministers will meet in February so as to give a green light to Serbia's candidacy, which should be confirmed in March. The European Council, made up of heads of state and government of the member countries will meet in Brussels on March 1.

Serbia has made significant progress and brave moves in bringing the most wanted war criminals to justice, Rompuy told a press conference at the EU headquarters.
