President Boris Tadic said on Wednesday Telekom Srbija should offer its shares through the stock exchange as soon as possible. Tadic believes this would render the country's telecommunications giant "market-oriented and competitive". President: Telekom should become publicly traded "When you want to sell Telekom or put it on the stock exchange, you suddenly face a lot of prejudice and misunderstandings, you are accused that the privatization is a robbery, that the government is letting go of the most important thing," he complained to a forum of students and representatives of Serbian companies. Only the energy sector should be controlled by the government, Tadic said on Wednesday in Belgrade: "Not even the energy sector should be fully controlled by the government. Privately owned companies could possess a part of the shares, but the government must not let go of the energy infrastructure, it must not let go completely of the telecommunications network." On Tuesday, Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic announced that Greek OTE would sell its share in Telekom Srbija.
