Ministry for Kosovo State Secretary Oliver Ivanovic strongly condemned KFOR's decision to move against a barricade near Jagnjenica, in northern Kosovo. Monday's operation in Jagnjenica was not aimed at safeguarding the freedom of movement for KFOR troops, but rather at crushing local Serbs' resistance, said this official. "KFOR aims to crush resistance ahead of Dec. 9" Ivanovic, who spent the day in Jagnjenica, said that this will be a long night for Serbs gathered at the roadblocks in that area of northern Kosovo. He qualified the situation in Jagnjenica as "rather tense, because there are many KFOR soldiers and local Serbs in a very narrow zone". Ivanovic voiced expectation that KFOR will continue to exert pressure on Serbs until December 9 - when the EU Council is to deliver a decision on Serbia's ambition to become a candidate for EU membership. After December 9, said the state secretary, "that will no longer make any sense whatsoever". KFOR members at Jagnjenica (Tanjug)
