Croatia’s decision on Serbian indictments is not in accordance with European practice, says Serbian Justice Ministry State Secretary Slobodan Homen. He said that he hoped that the decision would not be adopted and stressed that neither executive nor legislative authorities should interfere with courts’ work in democratic societies. “Croatian decision not in accordance with European practice” Homen said that the fact that indictments were raised against Croatian citizens for the 90s crimes did not mean they were automatically guilty, but that they could prove their innocence in court, daily Blic writes. “Therefore, I don’t see the point,” he noted, adding that it was maybe a part of the election campaign in Croatia. The state secretary announced that the ministry would continue to work on all the cases it had enough evidence for, pointing out that the largest number of arrest warrants had already been issued. He added that he expected all countries to respect them since a war crime was one of the most serious crimes that had no statute of limitations and that those responsible would eventually be brought to justice.
