Democratic Party (DS) deputy leader Jelena Trivan has stated that the survival of the ruling coalition is not brought into question, adding that Trivan added that the elections would be held on time, in the spring 2012. There will be no early elections, DS deputy leader claims "The survival of the ruling coalition is not brought into question. It is large and heterogenous, but there are no major and fundamental disagreements within it," she told Belgrade-based daily Vecernje novosti. "At this point, when Serbia is on the threshold of the EU candidacy, I doubt anyone will take the responsibility to jeopardize Serbia's European pathway, its chance to fulfill the Action Plan and obtain a positive opinion of the European Commission because of any disagreements, which are minor compared to the goal," the DS deputy leader was quoted as saying. When asked to what extent the more and more frequent conditioning of smaller parties is an introduction into the calling of early parliamentary elections, Trivan said she saw no reason why the government that managed to overcome the most difficult moments and challenges would go through another crisis at the point when it was one step away from the end of its mandate, assessing there would be no early elections. She explained that Serbia rightfully expected to obtain the EU candidate status, not as an expression of sympathy, but rather as a deserved positive assessment for which it had made huge reforms. "Serbia's conduct compared to Pristina's unilateral moves, Serbia's commitment to peace and dialogue, is yet another reason to believe we deserve to be a part of the EU, because of our European conduct and the way we resolve problems," Trivan stressed. Regarding pre-election coalitions, Trivan said that, by cooperating on different levels, DS had shown who its partners were, and with whom it could build a modern Serbia. "We are not ready to form a government at any cost, that is in coalition with parties we share no values with," she said, pointing out that DS and the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) had nothing in common. "We are two halves of the political scene in Serbia, and despite SNS' new pro-Europeanisms, we have nothing in common. As far as I am concerned, they are political opponents, rather than potential allies," Trivan underlined. Jelena Trivan (Tanjug, file)

Bliski istok, zbog promene ravnoteže snaga i dubokih kriza, pre svega palestinsko-izraelske, može se smatrati buretom baruta i ima potencijal da dovede ne samo do regionalnog sukoba, već i do globalnog konflikta.
