Several dozens of trucks from Serbia have entered Kosovo at the Merdare checkpoints. However, three trucks from Kosovo were not allowed to go through the checkpoint and enter central Serbia and were forced to turn back. Trucks from Kosovo prevented from entering central Serbia According to a Beta reporter from the scene, Kosovo customs officers say that the trucks were returned due to “Kosovo stamp”. Officers at the Serbian customs checkpoint did not want to give any statements, claiming that it was not them who returned the trucks but the Tax Administration which has its field office at the Merdare checkpoint. Nobody at the Tax Administration checkpoint wanted to comment on the reasons why trucks carrying goods from Kosovo were not allowed to go through. Situation at the Merdare crossing is peaceful, there are no lines or traffic jams. Kosovo customs officers started letting trucks carrying goods from Serbia through the checkpoints on Friday at noon. Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister and Trade and Industry Minister Mimoza Kusari-Lila stated Friday that Kosovo would use reciprocal measures if the agreement reached on September 2 in Brussels was violated in any way.
