Serbian President Boris Tadic says preservation of Kosovo Serbs' legitimate rights and EU membership are two inseparable and most important state interests. Addressing the lieutenants of the 131st and 132nd class of the Military Academy on Saturday, he pointed out that Serbia could protect its interests only as a prosperous country which had allies. President: There’s room for everyone in our Kosovo He said that Serbia wanted to leave behind conflicts from the past and put a stop to the clashes for which the citizens always paid the price. Tadic stressed that Serbia wanted to find a model of a solution which would enable both Serbs and ethnic Albanians and their children to live peacefully and without fear. “The dialogue is not always easy, it requires peaceful and patient work, solemnity, as well as for everyone to abstain from false interpretations of the achieved solutions, as it is precisely the lies that undermine state interests, and those who spread them only declaratively promote those interests,” the Serbian president underlined. “Serbia does not want conflicts and war, and this is the reason why I need to warn our European partners against the dangerous consequences of any unilateral action that would be aimed at changing the situation in the field. Such development of events would deprive the already launched dialogue of logic,” Tadic said. He underscored that the responsibility for the consequences of violent unilateral moves in Kosovo would fall on the shoulders of those who resorted to such means and those who encouraged and supported such actions. “Just like there is room for everybody in the Western Balkans, there’s enough room for everybody in our Kosovo,” the president said. Today, Serbia is a peaceful democratic country which, according to Tadic, extends a hand of reconciliation and cooperation and whose army constitutes a key factor in regional stability.
