A memorial service for the victims of the 1995 Croatian military action Operation Storm was held in the Serb village of Gornje Seliste, central Croatia. The commemoration was organized by the Committee of the Serb ethnic minority. Operation Storm victims commemorated Committee member Ljuba Vrga told Tanjug that the commemoration gathered about 50 members of the Committee, members of the Serb cultural society Prosvjeta, and local residents. The cemetery in Gornje Seliste has three mass graves and two rows of individual unmarked graves and it is quite dilapidated. According to the official data, these graves contain about 50 bodies, but it is believed that there are much more. It is believed that besides the refugees from Kordun, who were attacked by Croat forces while retreating towards Dvor, there are also bodies of the victims from western Slavonia. According to the data of the Croatian Helsinki Committee in UN Sector North, which included Kordun and Banija, 286 civilians were killed or went missing while the statistics of Belgrade-based NGO Veritas are much higher. In the Operation Storm, which was launched on August 4, 1995, the Croat forces in cooperation with the Muslim forces from Bosnia-Herzegovina killed 2,650 and expelled 340,000 Serbs.
