Recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo will not be a condition for Serbia's EU accession, German Ambassador Wolfram Maas has stated. “Germany has never set a condition that Serbia must recognize Kosovo so as to become an EU member state. All conditions that Serbia will need to fulfill as a EU candidate are included in the pre-accession negotiations and EU founding treaties, and were defined in the 1990s,” Maas told Belgrade-based daily Press.
