Democratic Progress Movement (PDP), the third biggest ethnic Albanian party in southern Serbia, has decided to leave the Coordinating body. The PDP says it does not want to participate anymore in a “farce directed by Belgrade.” Ethnic Albanian party leaves coordinating body The PDP Presidency pointed out in a statement that the Coordinating body had ignored all Albanian community’s requests, including the need for larger number of Albanians in state bodies, primarily in police, customs and tax administration. “We already announced a possibility of such decision, but we did not make sudden moves so we would not interfere with others work in the Coordinating body, hoping that official Belgrade and Coordinating body President Milan Markovic would accept Albanian national community’s suggestions,” PDP leader and Bujanovac Municipal President Jonuz Musliu told B92. He added that the Coordinating body president could not only play the role of a policeman or a gendarme and pointed out that he rarely visited the Preseveo Valley. Riza Halimi's Party for Democratic Action (PDD), the strongest Albanian party in southern Serbia, also announced it would leave the Coordinating body a month ago.
