The Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), led by RS President Milorad Dodik, has not been suspended from the Socialist International. The organization's ethics committee has yet to decide on its status, Serbia's ruling Democratic Party (DS) International Secretary Milos Jeftic has told Tanjug. SI "did not suspend Dodik's party", say Democrats "According to the information I received from some of the ethics committee members, Dodik's party has not been suspended, but they have been informed they will receive a questionnaire they should complete by September 1," Jeftic explained. The questionnaire will be put together and sent sometime in July, and based on the SNSD response, the ethics committee will decide the party's future status, he added. Jeftic noted that the Democratic Party was against SNSD's suspension. The Belgrade-based Vecernje Novosti daily previously reported that the decision had been postponed for September because of the Democratic Party's objections, which was represented by Boris Tadic and Vuk Jeremic. Media in Bosnia-Herzegovina reported earlier that the council of the Socialist International had suspended the SNSD based on a recommendation from the ethics committee. Dodik's party was warned that it would be expelled if its attitude and actions did not change significantly, the reports said. Milorad Dodik (FoNet, file)
