Justice Minister Snezana Malovic underlined in Novi Sad on Monday that the judiciary reform "will not halt Serbia's admission into the European Union". "The main goal of the launched reforms in judiciary is to improve the life of the people in Serbia and to grant them their rights and freedoms, and the European integration of our country is just a part of that process," she told reporters, after a visit to the Appellate Court. Judicial reform will not halt EU admission - minister The results so far show that the judiciary will not be an obstacle on Serbia's EU pathway, she added. The reform of the judiciary has its objectives: acceleration of court proceedings, a more intensive fight against organized and every other crime, and anti-corruption fight. The results which the Appellate Court presented today, and which refer to that court and other district courts in the region the Appellate Court covers, prove that the goals we have set will be achieved," the minister said. Asked about the fate of the non-elected judges and prosecutors, Malovic said that the authorized bodies, the High Judicial Council and the State Prosecutors' Council, had already begun resolving that issue. "Representatives of the Hungarian Ministry of Public Administration and Justice have recently inquired about our reforms, and the United States asked us to inform them about our experience regarding the implementation of the Law on the Seizure and Confiscation of the Proceeds from Crime," Malovic said.
