The voting will take place in the spring of next year, according to Vecernje Novosti. Report: Elections to be held in spring 2012 After some suggestions that municipal elections and those in Vojvodina should be held before the parliamentary elections, it was decided behind the scenes to hold the ballot on the same day, writes the newspaper. The idea to hold local and provincial elections during 2011 was abandoned because the coalition appraised that during the difficult crisis, "the citizens would not understand economic justification of holding double election". The ruling parties believe, writes the daily, that in case they separated elections, the opposition would accuse them of wasting money, which would in turn prevent them from "politically capitalizing the advantage of separately held voting".
