ICO to close some field offices in Kosovo
The International Civilian Office (ICO) in Kosovo has announced it will close its field offices in Peć, Prizren, Gnjilane and Priština starting September 1.

The International Civilian Office (ICO) in Kosovo has announced it will close its field offices in Pec, Prizren, Gnjilane and Pristina starting September 1. In a statement for the media, ICO said that the decision to close down the offices was "part of an institutional reorganization following the progress that has been made in the implementation of the Comprehensive proposal for Kosovo Status Settlement". ICO to close some field offices in Kosovo Commenting on the decision, Deputy International Civilian Representative Christopher Rowan said that the closing down of field offices was a natural step. ICO, however, will continue operating in these municipalities through its central office, he added. There has been speculation in Pristina that ICO might leave Kosovo by the end of this year or early next year. The office, headed by Pieter Feith, was set up by the western countries recognizing the ethnic Albanian unilateral declaration of independence made in early 2008.

There has been speculation in Priština that ICO might leave Kosovo by the end of this year or early next year.
