Serbian parliament Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic said Friday she believed the public property bill would be adapted in July. The speaker added that this was one of the most important laws on the European agenda, that but could not say when a restitution bill would come before the parliament. Speaker on public property bill, restitution "Non-monetary restitution will be easier, but in the cases where we need to compensate owners of nationalized property with money, it is more difficult to find a solution, because we are aware of the kind of crisis we are in," she said in Kraljevo, where she visited the local hospital. "It is important to pass laws which can be implemented, and it is more important to have a quality debate on what Serbia can do as a country, than to have the parliament pass a law which cannot be implemented," stressed the speaker. "It is better to have a quality debate than to rush things, even if it means the restitution bill has to wait until the fall," she said, adding that Serbia would hire experts from countries which had experience with restitution. “The people of Serbia need a restitution law, because every wrong needs to be made right,” Djukic-Dejanovic pointed out.
