United Regions of Serbia (URS) leader has announced that he expects 500,000 signatures on his petition for decentralization of Serbia. He said in the town of Pozarevac that he was satisfied with the number of people signing the petition in the entire Serbia. URS leader expects 500,000 signatures “This petition will bring Pozarevac a bigger budget because 80 percent of the income taxes will go to the town and the local government will use the money for the town’s needs,” the URS leader explained. “Aside from that, decentralization will return property to towns and municipalities and mayors will be elected in direct vote,” he stated. URS official Vladimir Ilic stated that it was important that citizens had understood the message by signing the petition. “We have launched a big social process which is a shift for Serbia. Even if changes don’t happen now, they will be our road signs for a better life and wellbeing of all our citizens. The government’s mistake is a fact that it does not deal with people but with territory, and we deal with people and want to provide them a better life,” he concluded. Mladjan Dinkic (Tanjug)
