After B92 aired a report on hungry students of a special school in the northern Serbian town of Subotica, many have decided to help. B92 Fund has donated RSD 500,000 that should be enough provide lunch to the students until the end of the year. B92 Fund brings aid to school in northern town Donors, various organization and individuals have decided to help the school since the lunch at school is the only meal that some of the students have for the entire day. Zarko Zrenjanin special school Principal Jovanka Tesanovic is satisfied with the reaction of the public, pointing out that donations will allow the students to have high-quality lunch. The school had been doing its best to prepare decent meals for the children but did not have enough money. “The case of hungry and poor children in the special school in Subotica certainly isn’t unique in Serbia and it is therefore necessary that all competent institution get involved, because donations are only a short-term solution,” B92 Fund President Veran Matic said. “I am happy about the fact that the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina will donate some food through the Commodity Reserves, that the local self-government will help solve practical problems regarding purchase of a new van for transportation of students to a local farm ran by the school, the Norwegian Embassy with its donation but also a large number of individuals, for example the one from Belgrade who contacted the principal willing to help, local bakeries and good people of Subotica,” Matic pointed out.
